A Bit About Anya
Anya Dillard is 22-year-old activist and multimedia storyteller who’s been disrupting narratives since 2008. She is also founder of The Next Gen Come Up – a 501(c)3 nonprofit encouraging youth to pursue social entrepreneurship, and the CEO of Jenevesque Media LLC. – a production house amplifying globally marginalized voices through experimental nonfiction, narrative, and immersive media projects.
Throughout her career, Anya has organized countless grassroots impact initiatives advocating for civil rights, climate justice, gender equality, and educational equity in the United States and abroad. Though best known for her global impact work, Anya has also built a career as a creative change-agent who utilizes media as a tool to educate, empower, and mobilize people.
Primarily centering themes of kinship, triple consciousness, patriotism, and black gender nuance, Anya’s filmworks take poetic approaches to stories whose socio-political underpinnings may otherwise be diluted by traditional narrative conventions. As a graduate of the Academy of Motion Pictures’ Gold Rising Fellowship and Rutgers Newark’s Undergraduate Video Production Program, Anya has worked with numerous award-winning production companies including Monkeypaw Productions and One Story Up Productions. Her current documentary work in progress is being fiscally backed by Gucci North America.
As a result of her creative impact work, Anya has been highlighted by publications like Teen Vogue, MSNBC, The Washington Post, CNN, and Elle Magazine. She has also received numerous awards including the Emmett Till Legacy Foundation’s Women of Courage Award, 2024 Gucci Changemaker Award, and the Because of Them We Can Youth Frontrunner Award.
