Our Social Impact Pledge
At Jenevesque Media, we believe storytelling is so much more than a craft; it is a cultural responsibility. We believe that the future of our society depends solely on who gets to imagine it, who gets to shape it, and who is invited to take up space within it. This pledge reflects our commitment to transforming an industry that has long restricted access, silenced those in the margins, and overlooked the brilliance of emerging and BIPOC creatives. It is both a declaration and a blueprint: a vision for an equitable creative ecosystem, and a promise to build it with intention, transparency, and care. We offer this pledge not as a written statement, but as a living ethic one that will only continue to evolve as we evolve, and hereby commit to the following.

I. Honoring A World That Has Been Built From Stories
Storytellers are architects. They shape what we believe is possible, who we see as worthy, and how we imagine the future. Even so, because of closed doors, narrow paths, and long-standing systems of inequality, the number of Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and AAPI creators who have been given the chance to tell their stories on a major stage has remained far too small, especially behind the camera.
In an industry where non-BIPOC decision-makers still hold more than 80 percent of leadership roles, and where emerging creatives often struggle to find funding, mentorship, or professional networks, Jenevesque Media chooses to push against the status quo and offer a clear alternative to the barriers that prevent so many from building meaningful creative careers.
We are here to widen the frame. To create new entry points. To make space for voices and cultural histories that others have tried to silence. We believe that representation is not a trend but a responsibility we take seriously.
II. Fostering Equal Creative Opportunity
We are committed to building a creative environment where the lived experiences and perspectives of marginalized storytellers are centered, not simply referenced. At Jenevesque Media, the chance to express ideas is not a privilege handed out sparingly. It is a principle that lives in every project we take on and every room we open.
Our work toward equal creative opportunity begins with equitable access. We support emerging, independent, and BIPOC creatives through development guidance, creative consultation, mentorship pathways, and structural support that helps level the terrain that has been uneven for generations.
In a time when only about one in ten films with budgets over twenty million dollars are directed by first-time filmmakers of any background, and when filmmakers of color direct only one in every five top theatrical releases, we choose to stand with the first-timers, the self-taught artists, the fearless visionaries, and all those whose talent has never been the issue. We grow by lifting others, and we create art without creating opportunity at the same time.
III. Closing the Opportunity Gap
For generations, the entertainment pipeline has reflected the inequities found in society at large. Funding is routinely pulled away from underrepresented artists. Gatekeepers protect existing systems. Emerging creatives are told to gain experience while being denied the very access they need to acquire it.
At Jenevesque Media, we confront this reality with purpose and clarity.
We partner with creatives who have the vision but not yet the platform. We amplify voices that are rooted in culture, distinct in perspective, and powerful in ways the industry has too often overlooked.
We intend to shift the balance of development opportunities given to BIPOC creatives. We make room for risk-taking, innovation, and stories that help redefine cultural memory.
At the center of our mission is one belief:
You do not need permission to be powerful. You need a place where your power can be seen and supported.
IV. Reducing the Economic Burden of Filmmaking
Filmmaking should not feel like a privilege reserved only for those who can afford it. For many independent and underrepresented creatives, the cost of bringing a story to life becomes a barrier that feels impossible to overcome.
With the average short film costing $5,000–$20,000 and the average debut feature requiring resources existing beyond the reach of most first-time filmmakers, the system effectively excludes the very voices we need most. (Indie Shorts Mag) We work to counter this imbalance.
We provide sliding-scale development support, transparent compensation as we grow, and resource-sharing models that reduce the financial strain of making work. We build partnerships that open doors rather than close them.
Between them and their creative peak, every artist deserves a bridge — not a bill they cannot pay.
Between an artist and the height of their creative potential, there should be a bridge, not a bill they cannot carry.
V. Maintaining a Commitment to Sustainable Filmmaking
The future of storytelling must respect the future of the planet. Film productions of all sizes have historically generated significant waste and high energy use. Sustainability is no longer optional. It is an ethical choice that reflects how we value the world we create in.
We commit to weaving sustainable practices into every stage of our process. This includes low-waste sets, digital-first workflows whenever possible, renewable and reusable materials, local sourcing, thoughtful equipment choices, and environmental reviews integrated from the beginning of pre-production.
To create responsibly is to recognize that our stories and our environmental impact will outlive us.
VI. Transparency, Evolution & Shared Responsibility
This is not a PR statement. It is a living, breathing promise. As we grow, our practices will evolve. As we learn, our standards will sharpen. As we expand, so will the communities we uplift.
We commit to periodic reflection, accountability, and open communication about our progress and our shortcomings. We welcome dialogue, challenge, and collaboration because these exchanges help our mission stay strong and honest.
Creating a positive impact is not indicative of reaching just one destination. It is the act of adopting a specific posture, a practice, a choice we renew every day.
VII. The Future We Intend to Build
Jenevesque Media exists for those who have been overlooked, underestimated, or unheard.
For the storytellers who carry entire worlds inside them.
For the cultures that deserve accurate, empowering, and abundant representations of self.
For the audiences who yearn to see themselves reflected with dignity and truth.
For a planet that can no longer afford to ignore its environmental cost.
We are here to shift narratives, whether they exist on screen, behind the scenes, or within the systems that shape them.
This is our pledge.
Our blueprint.
Our living ethic.
And we invite all who share this vision to build alongside us.
